。?br />
1. kick ass 了不起
A: Wow, you fixed my computer in less than 10 minutes. You're good.
B: Yep. I just kick ass.
當(dāng)「踢屁股」時(shí), 比如某人放你鴿子, 你很氣, 就可以說(shuō): "I'm going to kick his ass."
"That movie sucks."
8. catch some Zs
A: Excuse me. I have to catch some Zs.
A: 抱歉!
B: I thought you just woke up. Sleepy head.
I have to catch some Zs." 也可以說(shuō)"I have to take a nap." 或 "I need to snooze."。
A: It would be so cool if I can win this contest. I don't think I'm good enough, though.
B: Give it a shot! You'll never know.

A: Got you!
"Get you" 是「(騙、嚇、捉弄...) You didn't get me."。
14. no-brainer
A: How do you use this program? It looks quite complicated.

"Looks can be deceiving." He may be just a paper tiger."
15. work one's butt off 很努力地(做一件事)
A: I can't believe all my work is gone just like this. I've worked my butt off on this all day.
You're all set."。 有時(shí), 你到超市買(mǎi)東西, 買(mǎi)完要付帳時(shí), 店員也會(huì)對(duì)你說(shuō)"Are you all set?"。
A: All right. You go ahead and sign this paper and I'll do the dirty work.
B: It's kind of dead. Maybe you want to add more graphics to jazz it up.
好比有人在一個(gè)冗長(zhǎng)的會(huì)議里作些說(shuō)些笑話之類的事, 企圖讓大家從昏迷中醒來(lái), 就可以說(shuō)"He tried to jazz the meeting up."
28. My hands are tied 我無(wú)能為力
A: Mr. Chapman, can I hand in my homework next time. I left it at home.
B: All of the scores must be given to the office by Friday, so you must have your homework today. It is a school rule and there is nothing I can do. My hands are tied!.
